Testimonials for Brian Partridge, Piano Teacher, Ely

Testimonials for Brian Partridge, a local piano teacher in Ely.

“During lockdown I have reignited my passion for playing piano with the amazing help and guidance of Brian Partridge at Mindful Piano. His Zoom lessons are brilliant and really help you to keep improving week on week”.

“After a five-year break in piano lessons and finding myself playing mostly the same pieces over and over in that period, I decided to pick up lessons again, despite not really being sure about whether I was able to truly improve my playing. Just a few months later, I found myself playing much more advanced pieces than I ever could have dreamt of playing, particularly after such a short period. Much of that success I have to credit to Brian – his patient, encouraging and enjoyable way of teaching has made practice much more fun than I remember it to be, making it easy to stick to a routine and see my efforts very quickly bear fruit.”

“I had been thinking about learning to play the piano for a while but was a little daunted at starting to learn something new as an adult.  Brian has made the whole process easy and enjoyable.  He takes the time to find out your goals and musical likes and dislikes and then tailors the lessons to individual needs.  He is also endlessly patient when it takes me a little longer to pick something up and has some excellent teaching strategies for whenever I hit a hurdle. The studio is easy to find and very accessible.  Brian is always flexible, wherever possible, when work or other commitments mean I need to swap a lesson time.  I am really enjoying the whole process of learning and am pleased with the progress I have made.   I would have no hesitation in recommending Mindful Piano and Brian as a teacher.

Update: More than two years after writing my above testimonial (and after taking lessons with Brian for nearly four years), I have to say that what I wrote then remains just as true today. If anything, my week-on-week growth has accelerated despite already playing at an advanced level, and frankly, it’s now hard to imagine life without making music. It no doubt helps that Brian himself continues to grow as a teacher, and remains open to feedback and fresh suggestions. I have every confidence we’ll both continue to improve, while never forgetting to keep both playing and to make learning fun”

“Learning to play the piano has always been a bit of a dream for me, so when I saw an advert for Mindful Piano I decided I would finally do something about it. Starting as a complete beginner isn’t easy, but Brian is patient and encouraging, full of useful tips to help me develop my skills. The progression with every week is both rewarding and fun and I’d recommend it to anyone!”

Becky

“I have always wanted to play the piano but at the age of 33 I wasn’t sure if it was something I would be able to pick up as easily as when I was younger. I also have two very small children which makes focusing on practice tricky and I can only attend evening lessons by which time I am usually exhausted. Despite all of this I am so glad that I approached Brian. He has been so very patient and understanding of my poor tired brain. He explains things in a way that is easy to understand and his lessons are fun and engaging. He has a comprehensive knowledge of music and his passion shines through as he teaches. Every lesson has been taken at my own pace and I have been given a range of options for routes to take in regards to exams if I wished and style of pieces. Brian has been totally flexible and kind throughout, as he understands the pressures of family life. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough”.

“Brian is a patient and thoughtful teacher who has helped me to progress my piano playing from ‘YouTube self-taught’ to actually sounding half decent! One of my goals when beginning lessons was to be able to read music. I mastered this within a few weeks of lessons with Brian and am now able to read and play music fluently. This has brought me an enormous sense of satisfaction and pleasure as it is something that I never thought I would achieve. While on holiday, I was lucky enough to have the chance to play on a beautiful grand piano and, thanks to my lessons with Brian, had a collection of pieces I could play. I would 100% recommend Brian to anyone considering learning or taking up the piano again after a long break.”
